What are the rooms like?

Each member has their own bedroom, with a bed, storage cupboards, desk, chair, lamp, heater, fan, notice board, book shelves, telephone, high-speed broadband internet connection and a large window. All rooms in the new building have private ensuite bathrooms and half of them also have self-contained kitchenettes for those members who choose one of the self-catered options. What events and activities are offered?

The RMC Student Association holds fun activities for members throughout the year. These include a harbour cruise, College parties, a formal ball, day trips and more! Inter-college sporting events throughout the year include soccer, rugby, touch football, netball, basketball, badminton and more!

Is there internet available in the rooms?

Yes. Each member is provided with free 5GB per month download and a high-speed broadband internet connection in their room. Any extra internet can be purchased from the office at a rate of $5/GB. Each room also has a landline phone with free local calls.

Do you offer a discount on Macquarie University Gym Membership?

Yes. In 2012 RMC will offer a 75% reimbursement on Macquarie University Gym membership for College members.

Is it safe? What sort of security is there?

RMC strives to ensure that all members and guests are safe and secure during their stay. Members have 24 hour secure access to the College. Click here for more information about the safety perimeter and other facilities offered at RMC.

What is the food like?

RMC provides for the diverse range of tastes amongst College members. There is always a vegetarian option, and if you have other needs the staff will seek to help you with those too. The menus change from season to season and RMC’s self-catered options also include 1 evening meal a week in the Dining Room. Visit our Food page to learn more, or check out a sample menu here.

How close is the Uni, the shops, and public transport?

RMC is situated on the Macquarie University campus, so classes are only a 5 min walk away. The Macquarie Shopping Centre is also only a 5 min walk from the College. There are plenty of buses at the Shopping Centre, and the underground train station is just across the road.

What academic support is available?

RMC provides Academic Tutors (senior students) from a range of different subjects including Ancient History, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, French, Human Resource Management, Law, Linguistics, Modern History, Politics, Psychology, Spanish, and a wide range of EFS subjects such as Accounting, Actuarial Studies, Commerce, Economics and Finance. Academic Tutoring also includes

  • Two Academic English Tutors
  • SIBT Tutors
  • IELTS exam preparation tutorials
  • A seminar in Semesters 1 and 2 entitled Into the Workforce, to prepare RMC members for the challenge of transitioning into the workforce
  • How much does it cost?

    Check out our fee schedules here. The College offers fully catered accommodation (21 hot meals per week) and self catered options. Members choose between rooms with ensuite bathrooms or shared bathrooms. All members are provided with free local landline calls, 5GB free internet and weekly vacuuming and linen services. We also offer a range of scholarships.

    Is parking available?
    If you have your own car, you can apply for a parking sticker and use the student parking at RMC free of charge.

    Do you have rooms with disabled access or for members with a hearing impairment?
    Yes. RMC has 4 self-catered rooms designed with disabled access features. There are also a number of self-catered and fully catered rooms which are designed for members with a hearing impairment – these rooms have flashing lights in case of evacuations. For any enquiries, please contact us.
