Chaplain/Pastor – Dan Anderson

Dan Anderson
The RMC Chaplain is a ‘public Christian’ within the RMC community. This means teaching and living out what it means to follow Jesus Christ in our time and place. RMC welcomes people from any faith or none and we respect this diversity within the College. Our different religious and spiritual backgrounds provide unique opportunities for students to engage and challenge each other deeply about ultimate questions: life, death, God, and what makes life worth living.

Dan Anderson
BA (Hons) BDiv (Hons)

  • Alongside the role as Chaplain, Dan is studying a PhD in philosophy researching the ethics of forgiveness.
  • He is also the Pastor of Trinity Chapel (the University church that meets in the building adjacent to RMC) and the Anglican Chaplain to Macquarie University.

Dan lives in D Flat with his wife Emma and they have a young son (Nat). Dan and Emma met while studying in Canberra at the Australian National University. Emma became a Christian while a member of a residential College there. After a big argument about environmental conservation they fell in love. They are still in love… and still arguing about stuff.

Dan is passionate about understanding the ideas that shape our encounter with each other, with the created world, and fundamentally, with God. He writes: “I love exploring, whether that’s driving through the countryside, snorkelling, or reading books. I have a secret dream of being the first chaplain to the moon. Ultimately, though, I desire to see ‘every thought taken captive for Christ’ – both in myself and in others. What better place to begin than among students at University!”
