Catering options

Fully catered

If you choose a fully catered option you are provided with 3 meals a day, all served in the college dining room. If it is your first semester at university, this option is a deal as it can help you settle in, make new friends more easily, transition smoothly to a new environment, and give you a great start to your tertiary studies.

Hear what some of our students have to say about being fully catered in their first year:

"After a long day of lectures and tutes there's nothing better than knowing there's a hot meal waiting for you at College!" - Lee

“In first year you are just settling in to a new environment... in most cases everything is new and different and I found that being in fully catered meant that I made friends with lots of people and did not have the added stress of worrying about cooking... the dining room experience was not just a convenience in not having to cook but also the place where you build relationships and get to know people”. – Alyse

"Choosing to be a fully-catered member at RMC was a fantastic and convenient choice! Not only is the menu enormous, but the meals are extraordinary! Not to mention the immaculate facilities I have access to!" - Mackenzie

“The Dining Room is a lot more than just a place to enjoy a meal – it's where I socialise, unwind and put aside Uni for a moment; these things, I believe, are crucial in your first year of Uni.” - Roger

“Some of the best times I had in my first year were at meal times in the dining room!” – Kate

Semi catered

If you choose a semi-catered option you have your dinner in the college dining room, Monday to Friday. Dinners are an important time to socialise and get sustenance for your late night studies. You take care of your breakfast, lunch and weekend meals in either a private or shared kitchen. This is a fantastic option if you would like to balance work, college and uni.

Self catered

In the self-catered option you have access to a shared kitchen or your own private kitchenette to cook your meals. You are allocated one dinner a week in the college dining room which gives you the opportunity to get to know other students in the Robert Menzies College community. We normally require new undergrad residents to spend at least one semester on fully-catered or semi-catered meal plans, rather than being self-catered.

Outside of Meal times

If you can't make it to lunch, you can pre-order a packed lunch before 6am the same day (not available on weekends and public holidays). Late dinners are also available if you can't make it to dinner.

During the exam period, exam suppers (usually at 9 PM), are available to all students.

Otherwise there are two vending machines with a wide variety of snacks and drinks.
