Life at RMC

Our Care and Wellbeing

Care is at the heart of this mission. RMC is a place where all residents are encouraged to support one another whether you’re local or from all over the world. We are committed to providing the necessary support for residents to learn and grow during their time here.

Our staff members, many of whom were once University students, understand common stress and pressures, and have years of experience helping students through those difficult times. The RMC onsite support team includes dedicated pastoral care staff, trained and trusted Residential Advisors, Residential families, a Residential Support Officer and an experienced registered Counsellor.

Residential Advisors

Residential Advisors, or RAs, are the first point of contact for all resident issues. Two RAs per block work to foster community between residents and within the College. They are trained to assist residents in many ways, providing support in different areas of life.

Residential Support Officer

Each night, our Residential Support Officer is on site, ready to respond to any concerns and provide immediate, personal assistance. This consistent overnight presence is designed to be more dedicated and personable than a rotating roster of security guards, and is in addition to our Duty Officers and Residential Advisors, who are also available at night.

Residential Families

Our College community is unique, in that we have five staff families living on-site (with many children and pets!). In addition to giving our community a special touch, this means that a staff member is always available should you need them.

Counselling Service

We’re committed to welcoming and supporting all residents, whatever their mental health history or circumstances. The move from home to university, working through conflict in relationships, managing your time and handling the pressure of assessments can all affect how you’re feeling. Our experienced registered Counsellor is here to help you through those times, on site at RMC.

Residents living at the RMC have access to an Anglicare counsellor, who is available for meetings on Tuesday and Thursday.

Consultations with the Anglicare counsellor are confidential and are professionally managed by Anglicare, independently from our Colleges

We can also give you advice on setting up accessibility support and wellbeing with Macquarie University.
