Scholarships

New Australian Residents

Each year we award scholarships to new and returning residents. New Australian residents are eligible for both RMC New Resident Scholarships, valued at minimum $1000 per annum, and joint Macquarie University-RMC Scholarships, valued at $3000 per annum.

All applicants will be considered for the Macquarie University-RMC Scholarships, the RMC New Resident Scholarships, and the Paul W. Barnett Scholarship (where eligible).

The purpose of the scholarships is to assist students in financial need with accommodation costs support while living in RMC. 

The successful applicant for these scholarships will be able to demonstrate:

  • Outstanding character, maturity, common sense, eagerness and passion
  • Financial disadvantage
  • Commitment to community service and extra-curricular activities
  • Leadership qualities or leadership potential
  • Capacity to overcome adversity (for example, financial disadvantage, sole parent or carer responsibility, non-English speaking or Indigenous background, effects of trauma and/or abuse, long term medical condition or disability or coming from a rural or remote area)

Please Note:

  • You may apply for a scholarship before your entry to Macquarie University has been confirmed, as there is no application fee and no penalty for withdrawal.
  • You also need to  complete the general online application to join RMC before you apply for an RMC scholarship. There is no cost involved in making this online application.

Applications for Semester One, 2021, close 5pm Friday 8th  January, 2021.

New International Residents

Returning Residents

Each year we award scholarships to new and returning residents. Returning residents, both Australian and International, are eligible for RMC Returning Resident Scholarships, valued at minimum $1000 per annum.

Eligible applicants will be automatically considered for the Paul W. Barnett Scholarship.

The purpose of the scholarships is to assist students in financial need with accommodation costs support while living in RMC. 

The successful applicant for these scholarships will be able to demonstrate:

  • Outstanding character, maturity, common sense, eagerness and passion
  • Financial disadvantage
  • Commitment to community service and extra-curricular activities, both within and outside the college
  • Leadership qualities or leadership potential
  • Capacity to overcome adversity (for example, financial disadvantage, sole parent or carer responsibility, non-English speaking or Indigenous background, effects of trauma and/or abuse, long term medical condition or disability or coming from a rural or remote area)

Applications for Semester One, 2021, close 5pm Friday 16th October, 2020.

Paul W. Barnett Scholarship

The Paul W. Barnett RMC Scholarship is awarded annually to an Australian student from a rural or regional area who is from a significantly disadvantaged background. The awardee will demonstrate promising academic ability and the potential to positively contribute to the RMC community. The scholarship is valued at $15000 per annum, and is renewable for up to four years, subject to ongoing eligibility. The scholarship will be paid as a rebate on accommodation fees.

All new and returning residents who apply for RMC Scholarships will be considered for the Paul W. Barnett Scholarship. There is no further application required. Please fill out the relevant scholarship application form on this page. 

Applications for the Paul W. Barnett Scholarship close 5pm Friday 8th January 2021. Scholarship applicants who have not applied for a room at RMC by the scholarship closing date will not be considered.

RMC Campus Ministry Scholarship

The goal of this scholarship is to promote and enable RMC residents' involvement in ministry and outreach within the Macquarie University community beyond RMC.

The scholarship recipient will be an individual with gifts and passion to serve in Christian ministry with and to students within the broader Macquarie University Community.  

The scholarship provides for up to 50% of the value of an ABCD room.

The scholarship is open to current or prospective residents fo RMC.

To apply, you will need to fill out a regular scholarship application from (New Australian Residents Scholarship, New International Residents Scholarship or Returning Residents Scholarship) and also to email our Dean of Academics via email:  academic@rmc.nsw.edu.au and address the following criteria:

  • Tell us about your Christian faith journey
  • What experiences of ministry have you had? What are your passions and your gifts in terms of ministry, both current and future?
  • Commitment to community service and extra-curricular activities
  • What excites you about campus ministry?
  • An indication of which Christian groups you are interested in being in at Macquarie University(if you need more information about Christian groups at Macquarie University, please contact the Dean of Academics).
