Scholarship Opportunities at RMC
Each year Robert Menzies College is committed to support both new and returning residents’ cost of accommodation by offering a variety of scholarships. The scholarships take the form of fee rebates spread across the year and are aimed at alleviating financial hardships and fostering the ethos of our community.
We are grateful to our alumni and friends whose generous contributions make these scholarships possible.
Please Note:
- You may apply for a scholarship before your course entry has been confirmed, as there is no application fee and no penalty for withdrawal.
- You also need to complete the general online application to join RMC (click the New Applications icon) before you apply for an RMC scholarship. There is no cost involved in making this online application.
- You will be required to upload supporting documents such as: resume, referee’s letter, academic transcripts, supporting financial documentation.

Scholarship Amount
New RMC Australian Resident Scholarships are valued up to $8,000 per annum. Scholarship amounts vary depending on criteria below and choice of room type.
Eligibility Criteria
- Demonstration of financial need;
- Capacity to overcome adversity (for example, financial disadvantage, sole parent or carer responsibility, non-English speaking or Indigenous background, effects of trauma and/or abuse, long term medical condition or disability or coming from a rural or remote area);
- Demonstration of how personal worldview, faith, or values interact with studies and life;
- Academic performance;
- Prior service/contribution to the wider community (including the areas of sports, the arts, leadership, and community service);
- Desire and commitment to community engagement within RMC and beyond;
- Outstanding character, maturity, common sense, eagerness and passion.

Eligibility Criteria

- Capacity to overcome adversity (for example, financial disadvantage, sole parent or carer responsibility, non-English speaking or Indigenous background, effects of trauma and/or abuse, long term medical condition or disability or coming from a rural or remote area);

- Prior service/contribution to the RMC and wider community (including the areas of sports, the arts, leadership, and community service);

- Returning international students should note that your visa application requires evidence of financial capacity to pay for 12 months of living costs for you and any family members who come with you to Australia. Applications for international students in their first 12 months in Australia will only be considered in exceptional circumstances.

Applicant: RMC Resident pursuing studies in creative fields such as performance, music, film, and visual arts. Aimed to support students facing financial challenges while nurturing their artistic talents.
Amount: Minimum of $1,000 per annum for one year.

The successful applicant for this scholarship will be able to demonstrate:

PAUL W. BARNETT SCHOLARSHIP
Applicant: Domestic Student from a rural or regional area who is from a significantly disadvantaged background, demonstrating promising academic ability and the potential to positively contribute to the RMC community.
Amount: Fully Funded ABCD room for the academic period in a fully catered meal plan.

The Paul W. Barnett RMC Scholarship is awarded annually to an Australian student from a rural or regional area who is from a significantly disadvantaged background.
Scholarship Amount
The scholarship funds a fully catered ABCD room per annum paid as a rebate on accommodation fees.
Eligibility Criteria
- Is currently an Australian Resident studying full time at an Australian Tertiary institution;
- Demonstration of significant disadvantaged background;
- Have promising academic ability;
- Have the potential to positively contribute to the RMC community.
How to Apply
All new and returning residents who have applied for an RMC Scholarship and fall within the above criteria are automatically considered for the Paul W. Barnett Scholarship. Carol Dolan Scholarship
Applicant: Domestic Student demonstrating promising academic ability and the potential to positively contribute to the RMC community.
Amount: $5,000 per annum for one year.

GEOFF CHUBB SCHOLARSHIP
Applicant: The Geoff Chubb scholarship is awarded to a student in financial need with promising academic ability and the potential to strongly contribute to the RMC community.
Amount: $2,000 per annum for one year
RMC MISSIONARY FAMILY SUPPORT SCHOLARSHIP
Applicant: Resident whose family are engaging in Christian cross-cultural mission.
Amount: Up to 50% of the value of an ABCD Room.

MQ ADVANTAGE SCHOLARSHIPS
Applicant: Domestic Resident studying at Macquarie University demonstrating financial need and/or coming from regional or remote backgrounds.
Amount: Fully Funded ABCD room for the academic period in a fully catered meal plan.

The Macquarie University Advantage Scholarship has been established by Macquarie University’s Widening Participation Unit and Robert Menzies College to provide a fully funded ABCD room for the academic period in a fully catered meal plan option.
The successful applicant for these scholarships will be able to demonstrate:
- Demonstrated financial need
- And/or from a regional or remote background
- How the scholarship will assist the applicant with their studies and in their future career
- A demonstrated commitment to achieving their academic goals

Please Note:
- The purpose of this scholarship is to assist students in financial need with accommodation costs support while living in RMC. It is awarded for 1 year (38 weeks of accommodation costs).
- The successful applicant must have accepted the offer of a place (or be enrolled) on a full-time basis in an undergraduate degree at Macquarie University.
- The Scholarship must be commenced in the year it is awarded and deferment of the Scholarship offer is not available.

Applicant: Resident demonstrating outstanding Christian character, a passion for ministry, and a commitment to RMC’s mission of fostering spiritual growth and maturity.

The goal of the RMC Ministry Scholarship is to promote and enable RMC residents’ involvement in ministry and outreach with RMC residents and the broader Macquarie University. The scholarship recipient will be an individual with gifts and passion to serve in Christian ministry.
Scholarship Amount
The scholarship provides for up to 50% of the value of an ABCD room.
Eligibility Criteria
The scholarship is open to current or prospective residents of RMC.
In awarding these scholarships attention is given to the following criteria:
- Outstanding Christian character, spiritual and personal maturity, eagerness and passion for Christian ministry
- Commitment to RMC as a place of witness, mission and maturity
- Commitment to community involvement, service, and extra-curricular activities
- Leadership qualities or leadership potential demonstrated through active involvement in Christian ministry
- Potential to contribute to the life of RMC
- Demonstrated financial need
Optional, but not required:
- Experience in a cross-cultural ministry context
- Experience in Christian training/gap year
Recipient Responsibilities and opportunities
- Participation in the life of the RMC community
- Serving the RMC community through the Chaplaincy team
- Regular worship at The Bridge Church Macquarie Park
- Using RMC facilities & resources as a place of hospitality focused on Christian mission and discipleship.
- Be Mentored with a member of the RMC staff or Chaplaincy team
- Receive subsidised training in relevant areas
- Discerning your future vocation through feedback and reflection
